Why a queue needs a system
A busy car wash, barber shop or clinic in Muscat does not lose customers because the service is bad. It loses them because nobody knows how long the wait is. People leave, or they stand at the counter and ask again. A queue system gives every customer a number and gives the team one shared view of the line.
Most queue products stop there. They are a separate screen that knows nothing about the sale. In Q+ the queue is one tile in the same app that rings up the sale, takes the payment and records VAT. The owner sees the line and the money in one place.
How the Q+ queue works
- Your business has a queue. When you register and pick a business type that works on a queue, Q+ creates one for you. The car wash template creates a Wash Bay Queue, the barber template a Barber Queue and the clinic template a Patient Queue.
- Each ticket gets a number. Numbers run in order, so staff and customers always talk about the same ticket.
- Staff call the next customer. The Queue tab shows the number now being served and how many people are waiting. One tap on Call next moves the line forward.
- Customers get a WhatsApp update. When a ticket joins, Q+ can send a WhatsApp message with the number of people ahead and the estimated wait. When the ticket is called, Q+ can send a message that it is their turn.
How the wait estimate is calculated
Q+ does not guess. Each queue has an average service time in minutes. The estimate for a customer is the number of people ahead of them multiplied by that average. The starter templates set a first value for you: 18 minutes a car for a car wash, 20 minutes for a barber, 15 minutes for a clinic and 4 minutes for a cafe order queue. Measure your own average for a week and use that number, because an honest estimate is what keeps people from leaving.
Connected to the sale
A queue ticket is only half of the job. The other half is the sale. In Q+ the same team uses the Sell screen to ring up the service, take cash or card, send a receipt by email or WhatsApp and close the day with a counted shift. VAT and the accounting entries follow the sale. You do not copy numbers from a queue screen into a till.
Limits you should know
- Today, tickets are created when customers order through your Q+ customer web page. Staff cannot yet add a walk-in ticket from the app, and there is no printed ticket or TV display.
- The app shows the first queue of your business. If you run two lines, for example two wash bays, talk to support before you set up.
- WhatsApp updates follow WhatsApp rules. A free message only reaches a customer who wrote to your business in the last 24 hours, so do not rely on WhatsApp as the only signal.
We list these limits because a queue system that promises more than it does costs you customers on day one.
